Planning Services Peter Whitehead is the principal of the practice. A Chartered Town Planner of considerable knowledge and experience, he has been continuously employed in the discipline since 1989, and has worked for various District and Borough Councils throughout the UK. He has dealt with proposals of all sizes and descriptions from simple house extensions to major residential estates and, in the past few years, the redevelopment of the St Mellion Golf Resort – a major tourism development in Cornwall, perhaps second only in scale to the Eden Project. Peter was latterly employed by Caradon District Council as Assistant Head of Development Control, and led a team tasked with processing planning applications for the East side of the District. Peter has built up good relationships with a number of local architects and other professionals, and can call on their expertise when such is required. Although his practice is based just south of Liskeard, Peter is happy to deal with planning work throughout Cornwall and Devon, and further a field. Peter prides himself on providing a personal and bespoke planning service to all, tailoring each case to meet his client’s needs and budget. Peter believes that frankness regarding the chances of gaining permission is paramount to appraising the true possibilities of a site and, indeed, in building trust and long-term relationships with clients. This said, he will strive to gain the best outcome for clients in all his negotiations with the local planning authority, or other agency. In addition to his private consultancy work, Peter also works for the Royal Town Planning Institute’s charity ‘Planning Aid’ as a Community Planner. About
